Multi-award-winning dancehall artist Winky D had to pull out from the Tuku Festival, set to honor and celebrate the life of Oliver Mtukudzi. He was one of the acts people looked forward to seeing, as he once shared the stage with the legend himself.
The much-anticipated show, Tuku memorial concert, which took place at Glamis Arena in Harare, went on without the dancehall maestro, as he cited lack of communication between the concert organizers and his camp was the result of his cancellation.
He first wrote on his Facebook page that he is pulling out from performing, and he said;
“It is with utmost regret that, we as Winky D Management, do hereby inform the music fans who were looking forward to having a good recollection of the times Winky D shared with the late legend and national hero, Oliver Samanyanga Mtukudzi, that, Winky D will no longer be part of the performing artistes at the Tuku Memorial Concert. This is due to reasons beyond our control,” he said.
One of the members from his team repeated the words from Winky D, that it was indeed due to lack of communication.
However, it was revealed that Winky D was unhappy with how the organizers of the Tuku festival were not vocal and communicating details about the show with Winky D and his camp.
However, the show went on and the legend was remembered with dignity!
