Supreme Court to rule on Chamisa’s MDC Presidency. In May this year a judgment delivered by justice Mushore saying that the Movement for Democratic Change had not properly followed its own internal processes in appointing Chamisa as Vice-president in 2016. It ruled that a new leadership process must be held within a month.
The Supreme Court of Zimbabwe is set to meet on October 17 in Harare to make a determination on the appeal case against Justice Edith Mushore’s High Court judgment regarding the MDC leadership issue MDC-T Vice President Obert Chaurura Gutu has said.
The MDC appealed the judgement. The legal challenge against Chamisa was launched by Elias Mashavire, organising secretary for the party’s Gokwe district. Gutu said Chamisa was illegitimate and his chances of winning in court were slim.
“The Appellants have got a snowball’s chance in hell of winning their Supreme Court appeal. Illegitimacy shall ALWAYS remain Illegitimacy. The Supreme Court will simply confirm and fortify our original argument. We don’t follow illegitimate leaders who unconstitutionally and violently usurp power. It’s not over, until it’s over.” Gutu said.
When asked if he was willing to form a united from with Chamisa’s MDC Gutu said, “There are better chances of the Sun rising in the West and setting in the East than us uniting with violent and unprincipled people.”
