Long-serving deputy police spokesperson retires

Long-serving deputy police spokesperson retires. Speaking at Masikati’s farewell party in Bindura last Friday Police officer commanding Mashonaland Central Rangarirai Mushaurwa who was the guest of honour described Masikati as a much-disciplined officer who led the province by example.

Mashonaland Central provincial deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Petros Masikati retied over the weekend after 31 years of service in the same province.

“As the police, we are robbed of a disciplined officer who was never found in any act of mischief, 31 years is not a joke some of our junior officers cannot even complete two years of service so we really want to commend Masikati for raising the flag of the province high,” said Mushaurwa.

The provincial spokesperson Inspector Mundembe told the gathering that they will keep in touch with Masikati as he is now playing the ambassadorial role of police work in the community.

“We learnt a lot from Masikati he was very popular in the public relations department, therefore, it is not correct to say that he has left us but we have elevated him to be our ambassador in the force because once a police officer always a police officer hence he is now our ambassador in the province,” Mundembe said.

Meanwhile, the provincial crime consultative committee chairperson Sydney Gwaze welcomed Masikati as their ambassador and hoped that they will curb crime together.

“As civilians working with the police we welcome our ambassador (Masikati) since we need his great experience in combating crime, we are privileged as he worked here for the rest of his career and he is based here so we have him full time at our disposal.”

The ex-cop told this reporter that he was humbled by the gesture and he never knew that people liked him that much.  “I am very humbled by this party in my life l never thought of a day that to be remembered and having officer commanding of the province on the same table this is really an honour l am speechless l thank you,” he said ecstatically.
