Triangle coach Taurai Mangwiro cries foul. The defending champions are out of the Chibuku Super Cup, while City progress to the semis where they will face Ngezi Platinum Stars. Triangle were in action on Sunday were they were knocked out in the CAF Confederation Cup. Mangwiro said they should have been given more time to regroup and re-energise.

Triangle coach Taurai Mangwiro cries foul after their 3-1 penalty defeat to Harare City in the Chibuku Super cup at Rufaro yesterday. Mangwiro said the schedule was not fair on their part as he said they did not have enough time to prepare for the game.

“I don’t think we were given a fair chance to defend our title. Because how do you expect the team that is representing the country to be in action, three days later?

“Is it a crime to be part of the CAF Confederation Cup? I don’t understand we played on a Sunday and we traveled back to Triangle on a Monday and travel back to Harare on a Tuesday and play the game on a Wednesday,” fumed Mangwiro.

Mangwiro said they did not have their fate in their hands it was up to those with the fixtures. He said it should be improved next time, no matter which team represents the country.

“This is not fair. We didn’t even had time to even conduct a single session? “Am I a magician how am I able to prepare for the downfall of Harare City? But congratulations to City, I wish them well,” he added.

He however said his boys played well, given that they did not have time to prepare for the game or even to rest, having spent most of their time on the roads. “I want to give Credit to the boys, they gave a very good account of themselves. Considering where we are coming from, the fixture has not been a very kind to us.

“We did well, we are indeed a good team, yes there was the penalty shootouts, which is a lottery and today we were not that lucky. “We have given away the title that we so badly wanted to defend,” he said.

Harare City coach Lloyd Chitembwe was a happy man with the win. “It feels good to win, we have been longing for this. We want to continue playing and winning.

“I am very happy with the result not the performance though. Credit to the boys, they managed to get us a win and I am very proud to go to the semis. “We hoping to try harder and win the trophy,” said Chitembwe.

Chitembwe men will face Ngezi this weekend in their next Chibuku assignment. Last year Triangle defeated City 2-0 In the Chibuku finals.
