Meet the woman who won the UZ SRC elections that caused violence. UZ rocked with violence following disputed SRC elections, riot police intervenes. There was violence this evening at the University of Zimbabwe following disputed results of the Students Representative Council(SRC) Elections.
According to reports ZINASU won the elections, beating ZANU PF backed students union ZICOSU. The ZANU PF Secretary for Administration Tendai Chirau has claimed that some MDC members caused violence during an SRC election that took place on Tuesday.
Writing on social media Chirau alleged that the members were led by one pride Mkono and Makomborero Haruziviishe. The MDC A’ s terror militant wing, Vanguard, led by Pride Mkono and Makomborero Haruziviishe who are not students.
Unleashed violence at students who were patiently waiting for election results. The incident happened around 20:00 hrs at the Union building, resulting in the injuries of 7 ZICOSU students. Meanwhile, the police have intervened and calmed the situation.
Abiona Matt won the elections and became the new and first female UZ SRC President.
