Pokello takes heat over Warriors draw. The Warriors’ uninspiring show against Botswana on Friday reignited interweb debate over the laxity of the national team camp which divided opinion hours before the match after pictures of socialite Pokello Nare with national team players went viral on social media.
Warriors’ coach Joey Antipas said he was as shocked as everyone else when he saw the pictures and will make sure the episode is not repeated.
“I was shocked when I saw these photos this morning (Friday). I wasn’t there when this happened. This was an unnecessary distraction and it’s unfortunate that it happened. We have to look into this issue,” Antipas told journalists after Friday’s match.
Some players who spoke to Kukurigo Sport blamed team manager Wellington Mpandare for allowing other players to break camp rules in exchange for money.
Zim star calls for honesty after Botswana horror show. Midfielder Marvelous Nakamba says the Warriors should introspect after a poor display in which they only managed two shots on target against lowly Botswana.
The Warriors were restricted to only two shots on target with star players Knowledge Musona, Khama Billiat and Ovidy Karuru off form.
“We need to be honest with each other and tell each other the truth. This was a disappointing performance and we need to rectify this. We need to raise our game when we take on Zambia next week,” said Nakamba.
Kamusoko, Dzukamanja dropped from Warriors. The Warriors’ technical team has dropped Terrence Dzukamanja, Thabani Kamusoko and Talbert Shumba from the 18-player squad set to travel to Zambia tomorrow ahead of a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Chipolopolo on Tuesday.
