PSL’s decision to summon 4 Caps United players for a disciplinary hearing anger coach Dodo

PSL’s decision to summon 4 Caps United players for a disciplinary hearing anger coach Dodo. Caps United who are currently leading the 17 teams will face off ZPC Kariba on Thursday at Rufaro Stadium in a potentially gruesome encounter. United’s four players- Ronald Chitiyo, Dominic Chungwa, John Zhuwawu and Carlos Rusere will face a PSL disciplinary committee on Wednesday, just a day before ZPC Kariba match.

Caps United head coach Darlington Dodo is appalled and frustrated by the Premier Soccer League’s decision to summon his players for a disciplinary hearing a day before their crucial match. The quartet are accused of assaulting a match official following their 1:0 loss against Chicken Inn a fortnight ago at Barbourfields Stadium.

Dodo said the timing to make his players appear before a disciplinary team a day before a crucial match was wrong, improper, appalling and unfair. “The timing was wrong. I don’t think its proper. Its mind blogging and very unfortunate to have such things when you have a crucial match ahead,” he said.

However, he said he expects a positive decision from the outcome of the meeting. “I do not wish ourselves the worst. I always want to think positively but I do not want to comment much. I am just preparing the team that I have at my disposal and I leave everything to the owners that be, the people who are supposed to be taking care of the procedures. For now all I know is that we have a full squad.”

If the four are found guilty chances are that they may serve a three-match ban as part of the disciplinary action, a move that will dent Caps’ title aspirations. But, Dodo, however, refused to be intimidated by the current situation saying they are ready to fight for the title.

He added that they are expecting nothing but a victory on Thursday following their shock 2:0 defeat against TelOne in their last encounter.

“Its one of the big games that we are going to play. In terms of preparation, from the Telone game I think we have done well. The players who had injuries have recovered. We don’t have any suspended players. We only miss Method Mwanjale and Kudzai Nyamupfukudza,” he said.

“We are expecting an instant reaction. We need to grind results as soon possible and we have been presented with a game against ZPC Kariba and its an opportunity to do that. From what I am seeing at training, these boys are raring to go.”

“It is just a matter of how many we are going to score in terms of the win that we want to achieve but definitely we are going all out to make sure that we grind the results,” he said. “I have been psyching these boys in terms of mental attitude. They are seasoned players who know what they want to achieve.”

“The time that we are in, they know what they want to achieve and hopefully it won’t disturb us. It was going to be better if we had played before the hearing rather than the players attending to a hearing, Dodo concluded.

Meanwhile, Caps United captain Hardlife Zvirekwi has called on the supporters to rally behind the team during this crucial moment of the title race. “All games that we play are crucial. It is going to be a tough match but the boys have been working hard at training and we will try and prepare for a game that is coming,”

“At this point in time we need everybody on the deck. We need our fans to rally behind us. Everyone has to give us the support that we want and the boys will repay the support with a positive result,” he said.
