Prophet Magaya hands over pulpit after father’s death. The death of Prophetic Healing and Deliverances Ministries founder Prophet Walter Magaya’s father paved way for his senior pastors to minister at the burial service held at Glen Forest Cemetery on Saturday. Prophet Magaya, clad in black attire along with his family and mother, took a back seat as PHD members, led by one of the senior ministry counselors Cornelius Rugara conducted the service.
It was a historical moment where Prophet Magaya handed his microphone and pulpit to one of the church leaders to share a sermon, while he paid attention. Yadah Voices Band, along with an upcoming brass band, exchanged the stage with spiritual hymns as church
choir members threw balloons, and sweets to mourners as they paid their last respects to the late Freddie Muvirimi, a man who nurtured their leader from the age of four.
“To us Sekuru Freddie was our chief advisor and counselor who took his time to pay attention to people’s needs alongside Prophet Magaya,” said Rugara. “He settled many disputes, solved family issues, and strengthened the weak brought before his attention, and among them were resolving marital issues.
“Today we are celebrating his life, we are not mourning, but celebrating a life well lived by Sekuru. “He fought a good fight, he has finished his race and deserves a befitting send-off of this magnitude,” said Rugara. One of the ministry leaders responsible for Chinhoyi satellite assembly, Boniface Madhora led mourners in prayer before inviting Prophet Magaya to lead the family in witnessing the lowering down of the casket, while the brass band played.
Sekuru Freddie passed away last Thursday at Dandaro Home in Borrowdale. He was 58. A convoy of buses, private vehicles and kombis drew the attention of people from Waterfalls, Central Business Center, Borrowdale and Hatcliffe through to the final resting place at Glen Forest, leaving them wondering who the departed was.
