Meet Zimbabwean student in China helping fight the Coronavirus. A 21-year-old Zimbabwean student at Guangxi University of Finance and Economics in China Munyaradzi Gurure is trending on Chinese social media for all the right reasons.
Gurure took the bold step of remaining in his host country despite the outbreak of The Corona Virus. Whilst other foreign nationals have left China fearing for the safety, Munyaradzi Gurure has stayed and is helping the fight against the deadly virus by volunteering at a local railway station.
The railway station screens passengers for the virus and ensures that all citizens are wearing their masks at all times. Gurure’s volunteer work involves cleaning, disinfecting the station and ensuring the safety of fellow citizens by taking their temperatures.
The Corona Virus has ravaged China with 1370 deaths and 60400 confirmed cases at the time of publication. Despite the risks involved, it is commendable to see a Zimbabwean playing his part to make a difference.
