This is why Beyonce didn’t want photos of her taken at Kobe Bryant’s memorial. A few celebrities performed as a tribute to Kobe and Gianna while some made speeches. On the 24th of February, celebrities and fans gathered at the Staples Centre to celebrate the lives of basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna who lost their lives in a tragic helicopter crash.
One of the celebrities who delivered a powerful performance was Beyoncé, but before her performance, she asked that no one take photos of her. Beyoncé and her husband Jay Z were very close friends of Kobe and his wife Vanessa. Throughout the ceremony, Beyonce was even seen as comforting a distraught Vanessa through speeches.
Beyonce performed renditions of her bit songs “Halo” and “XO” which she said was Kobe’s favourite but she asked that no pictures be taken of her so that the focus would remain on Kobe and Gianna. “Beyonce asked that no pictures of her were taken at Kobe’s memorial,” a source told HollywoodLife.
“She didn’t want to take the attention away from Vanessa and the family. She only performed because she loved Kobe and wanted to do something special for Vanessa.” Meanwhile, a grieving Vanessa has posted another tribute to her late husband and daughter.
She shared a snippet of the Muse documentary which featured her and Kobe together with their daughters having quality family time. She chose Beyoncé’s song XO as well as the soundtrack saying she really missed both Kobe and Gianna.
