5 things you need to know about Zororo Makamba. Zororo Makamba is the son of prominent Zimbabwean businessman, James Makamba. He died on the 23rd of March, 2020, after succumbing to the Coronavirus, becoming the first Covid-19 fatality recorded in Zimbabwe. He died at the Wilkins Infectious Diseases Hospital in Harare at the age of 30.
Zororo was a talented producer, radio and television host. At the time of his passing, he was the host and executive producer of weekly web-based political opinion show, State of the Nation with Zororo Makamba, a production by Eleven Dogs digital company which he was also a co-founder.
He started his media career at Zimbabwe’s first private radio station, ZiFM stereo, where he hosted several current affairs programs. From radio, he quickly moved to television and was the Host and Executive Producer of Tonight with Zororo an award-winning talk show which aired on MNET’s, Zambezi Magic.
In 2016, Zororo won the award for Outstanding Screen Production (Television) at the National Arts Merits Awards.
In 2015, he was awarded the Best Male Achiever at the Zimbabwe Youth Achievers Awards.
He had a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Michigan State University and a Master of Fine Arts in Producing (Honours) from the New York Film Academy.
