Warriors salute Sunday Chidzambwa as he retires from football. Warriors have thanked former coach Sunday ‘Mhofu’ Chidzambwa after he announced his retirement from football on Wednesday. Mhofu took Zimbabwe to their first-ever AFCON finals in 2004 and their third dance at the continental football showdown at the 2019 Egypt finals.

Mhofu is also remembered for his successful stint with Dynamos – reaching the CAF Champions League final in 1998.

Mhofu was like a father to me and he scarified his time to work on me as a player and what l needed to improve. I want to say farewell to him and l want to thank him for all his contributions to my career. He has worked extensively in footballing circles including coaching Dynamos and made a historic qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations. He also coached in the South African Premier League. He was the first coach to take the Zimbabwe National Soccer Team to the AFCON finals held in Tunisia in 2004. He also coached in South Africa at Black Leopards and Free State Stars.
