Popular Businessman gunned down at prayer meeting


Popular Businessman gunned down at prayer meeting. iHarare has learnt from the state media that Kumbirai Khumbula, who runs several retail outlets in the city was fatally shot by armed assailants at his house where an all-night prayer meeting was being held. The incident reportedly occurred in Darlington low-density suburb.

In a very unfortunate development, a Mutare businessman was shot dead by armed robbers who invaded an all-night prayer session. According to sources who spoke to the publication, the robbery occurred around 5 a.m.

Reports reaching this publication have revealed that the armed men pounced on the unsuspecting church members at Darlington’s home whilst they were conducting the service. The robbers then allegedly tied up the businessman’s family and other church members who were at the house before ransacking the house.

No information has been given as yet on the items they allegedly stole during the robbery. Investigations are also underway to establish why the thugs shot Khumbula. However, according to unconfirmed reports, the robbers allegedly killed Khumbula because he had managed to positively identify one of the robbers.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tavhingwa Kakokwa confirmed the fatal shooting but did not furnish the publication with information on what transpired.
