Zororo Makamba

Zororo Makamba laid to rest. According to an image Leaked on social media, Makamba was buried in a private ceremony with a few attendees as most had to comply with the government’s new law on social distancing.

Mourners and officials who presided over the funeral had to wear face masks and protective clothing as they oversaw the transportation and burial. Zororo Makamba died due to complications from the Coronavirus, just less than 2 days after he had tested positive for the novel virus.

Makamba is said to have contracted the virus in New York before he returned to Zimbabwe already displaying flu-like symptoms. He is said to have suffered from an underlying health condition which was aggravated by the coronavirus attack on his already compromised immune system.

The Makamba family has blamed the government for his death and cited negligence on the part of the Minister Of Health and Wilkins Hospital whom they felt could’ve have done better to save his life.

The family also claimed that they called President Emmerson Mnangagwa, his wife First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa to assist them in their crisis but they too failed to deliver on their promises regarding Zororo’s care.

Zororo’s brother said he was alone and scared in his final hours as Wilkins Hospital staff ignored him and hardly checked on him when it was clear his health was deteriorating by the hour.

Attempts to save his life proved fruitless as the family hit obstacle after obstacle in trying to stabilize him , from lack of pure oxygen, a ventilator, medication and timely response.

His death has sparked outrage, with many stating that the government is not only incompetent but poorly equipped to deal with the pandemic and Zimbabwe is a ticking time bomb.
