Zimdancehall chanter Van Choga releases a song titled Corona after lockdown extension. Zimbabwe joined the rest of the world in extending Lockdown days to a further 2 weeks as they try to curb and manage this COVID-19 pandemic that has claimed so many lives, especially in Italy, Spain and the current USA.
The President of Zimbabwe yesterday increased or extended the Lockdown with a further two weeks. This comes after anxiety that had gripped the nation as people were wondering if the lockdown will be extended or it will be partially extended or it will be lifted altogether.
The Lockdown statement which was supposed to be broadcasted at 3 was then broadcasted at 4 PM. The president of Zimbabwe H. E Emerson Mnangagwa has with (Yesterday) immediate effect extended the Lockdown by a further 14 days.
According to the President, the end of the Lockdown doesn’t mean the end of the virus. Hence the need to control the low number of infections we currently have. Zimbabwe currently has 25 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 3 deaths and 2 recoveries.
A careful look at the whole World shows that the disease is at its peak and Zimbabwe is not yet ready to lift the Lockdown as per WHO recommendations. This and other factors have led to the 14-day extension put in place to try to slow down the spreading of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
