Zimbabwe prepares for Japanese karate tournament

Zimbabwe So-Kyokushin Karate-Dojo (ZSKKD) is gearing up for the All Japan Karate tournament to be held this mid-April in the Asian country.

ZSKKD leader Shihan Samson Muripo says they are readying themselves for the tournament with an intense training schedule.

“We have intensified training so that our members stay fit and prepared for any event. We now do our training Tuesdays and Wednesdays,” said Muripo.

Meanwhile, the karatekas have also been on a resource mobilisation drive for goods such as sanitary wear for women and food stuffs to be donated to victims of Cyclone Idai among them, says Chairman of Mas Dyma Dojo Sempai David Tapera Gamanya.

The team of karatekas feel there is need to extend our hand with this donation. No donation is big or small,” said Gamanya.

Karate is a popular sport played in almost every corner of Zimbabwe.

Shihan Muripo who hails from Chimanimani is testament of the extensive nature of the sport.
