Actor Raphael Griffiths has fulfilled his dream of working on an art project that had been on his mind for years. The visual project, Nightmares, consists of photography, music, performance, and dance.

The 27-year-old told the People’s Paper: “I’ve had this idea since 2017, but I executed it last year.

“I wanted to do everything properly, like finding contemporary dancers and good poets, but I was working on a shoestring budget because all the money was coming from my pocket.”

The project is about moving past one’s doubts and fears while giving the audience a glimpse into his battle with depression.

“I experienced cyber bullying when I played Vusi on Muvhango, and people often told me I was a garbage actor.”

This drove him into a depression!

“I was a young actor, and yes I admit I wasn’t Leonardo DiCaprio, but social media was brutal and that took its toll on my confidence and self-esteem.”

Raphael sought professional help.

“I went to see a therapist and my family supported me, but what helped me the most was prayer.”

His self-esteem has been restored and he doesn’t let anyone put him down.

Nightmares will come out in the second week of June. The music will be available on Apple Music and Spotify.
