King 98’s music video for Kachiri reaches 1 million views in 48 hours. Initially, the video had its premiere on Trace Africa last week Wednesday and was only uploaded on YouTube Friday, garnering over a million views in a short space of time. And judging by the support he received, 22-year-old’s handlers reckon that King 98 has made a giant stride in his quest to establish himself in East Africa.
King 98’s brand new video to the song Kachiri featuring Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platinumz has been endorsed by many after hitting over a million views in 48 hours. Prior to the East African musical expedition, he collaborated with Nigerian superstars Davido and Zlatan along with South Africa rapper, Nasty C.
But it should be mentioned that his latest project featuring Diamond Platnumz has left King 98 convinced he is striking the right chords. In an interview with H-Metro, King 98 spokesperson Stephen Tsikirayi, said the rapper was determined to fulfil his vision.
“King 98 has been impregnated with a vision to take over Africa. “The strategy was to capture different markets and in this instance, the plan was to invade East Africa and Swahili speaking nations.
“Therefore, for us reaching a million milestones is the fulfilment of the ongoing vision of King 98,” he said. Despite a huge impact hard to ignore, Tsikirayi said King 98 remains down to earth and focused.
“Truthfully speaking, we are excited yet in the same vein of excitement – King 98 remains humbled of the support he has been receiving from fellow Zimbabweans and those in diaspora and Africans at large.
“He is now learning Swahili; his sound synthesises Afro-pop and Hip Hop so already he is marrying and uniting two different genres. “Therefore by this reason, he has opportunities to learn diverse languages since he collaborated with different artists,” he said. Asked how long King 98 and Diamond Platnumz took working on the video and its audio, Tsikirayi said:
“Three to four months; we did it early this year before Covid-19 lockdown since he plans ahead, he is already planning for 2021 September since he is futuristic.” Tsikirayi said their relationship with Diamond Platnumz’s camp was set to grow as King 98 was learning from the best. “In King 98’s words, Diamond is like a mentor, a humble man with a desire to see youngsters rise.
“He has learnt much from him; it’s a long-lasting relationship they have created. “King 98 made waves in Southern Africa last year and It was easier for Diamond to see the talent
“They met last year and they engaged on the same vision to change the arts industry “Back home, people were sceptical about the talent but now people are now embracing the talent,” he said.
To date, King 98 has a number of refreshing music videos he collaborated with the continent’s finest such PULL UP featuring Davido’s mentee Zlatan.
Prior to that, he also released another to the song No Bad Vibes which features Davido who has since endorsed him as a brother. Another beautiful video to come was Wacko featuring Laylizzy and Nasty C.
With Nasty C, King 98 spent the greater part of last year honing his trade under the multi-award winning rapper. The two embarked on the Ivyson Tour held in memory of the late mother of Nasty C which saw the two camps touring all the province on South Africa.
The last leg of the tour was held in Zimbabwe on Unity Day’s eve last year where a number of both seasoned and upcoming Zim Hip Hop Artistes performed. With locals, he released the video to the song Shoko featuring ExQ towards the event of last year.
In his South Africa base, the rapper continues to learn from Nasty C who now considers Zimbabwe as his second home as he alternates between Harare and Joburg when the call of duty comes. It’s a triumph for King 98 who has proved his fellows that networking and talent remain key to success.
