Warriors coach warns Aston Villa man Nakamba. Nakamba is being linked with a move away from Villa Park to Turkish giants Trabzonspor on a reported loan deal. Zimbabwe head coach, Zdravko Logarusic, has warned Aston Villa midfielder, Marvelous Nakamba to make the right decision on his future.

Trabzonspor were initially reported to be eying Nakamba on a permanent move as an option to replace Nigerian Obi Mikel who quit over coronavirus concerns in March.

The Turkish side, according to reports, is now hesitant on a permanent deal which would be expensive since Villa managed to survive relegation. Nakamba is under contract at Villa Park until 2024. And responding to what is right for Nakamba, Logarusic believes the decision is in the former Club Brugge star.

The Croat coach told H-Metro that Nakamba knows what is best for him as someone who is hands-on. “It’s very important to make decisions by himself,” said Logarusic. “We just have to see how it goes for him but he has the decision which is good for his future.

“He has to consider how he feels at Aston Villa first. And like I said I think he is comfortable being in the Premier League and if that is the case he has to stay there if possible,” he added. Nakamba arrived at Villa Park for €12m from Club Brugge last season and 29 appearances in the just ended Premier League, starting 19 times.

The Zimbabwean has shown potential but later struggled with inconsistency especially after the Covid-19 break which saw him being dropped to the bench.

Logarusic said age is still on the 26-year-old’s side and that should help him make a proper decision over his future. In an interview with H-Metro recently, Logarusic also highlighted that the COVID-19-enforced break could have contributed to his drop in form.

“Like I said let him make a proper decision and he is in the best football age. “It is also difficult to keep form especially due to the Covid-19 break. I think it also distracted him.

“He was in the starting lineup but at the end of the season, he started most of the time from the bench. He also has to see what the coach thinks about him and make a proper decision,” said Logarusic.

The move to Turkey came after reports that the Zimbabwean is happy to play under Dean Smith and has no intention of leaving.

Reports in Turkey, however, suggest Trabzonspor are keen on bringing the defensive midfielder as they bolster they squad to challenge for honours after finishing second last season.

Despite finishing as runners-up the team is barred from European competition due to Financial Fair Play breaches.
