Harare Businessman Manson Mnaba has been implicated in a massive land scandal in which he is reportedly accused of selling state land in Borrowdale in Harare, ZimMorning Post exclusively reports.

A source close to the developments told the publication that: Controversial businessman Manson Mnaba has been fingered in a massive land scam which involves the fraudulent sale of State land running into millions of US dollars in the affluent suburb of Borrowdale, Zim Morning Post can reveal.

Investigations made by this publication showed that Mnaba, through his company Arusome Properties, took transfer of 50 stands in Carrick Creagh Estate which had been allocated as security before the conditions precedent to such transfer had occurred.

He sold the land to unsuspecting home seekers and the stands were considered pricey after he fraudulently demanded excessive development costs running into millions of United States dollars. According to documents at hand, the land in question had already been allocated to beneficiaries by the State.

“He sold the land that had already been allocated to beneficiaries; he had the audacity to do that because he has top connections in the army, judiciary and all strategic areas in the levers of power, so he was like a sheriff in town,” revealed our source.

To give credence to our trusted sources claims, in 2017 his son Nathan had a criminal case which was shielded by suspended Chief Magistrate Mishrod Guvamombe and the matter was thrown out for lack of merit after defense filed several applications.

Guvamombe, who is reportedly Mnabas business partner, allegedly ordered Harare Regional Magistrate Elijah Makomo to drop Nathan’s criminal case.

According to the State, sometime in June 2017, Makomo was tasked to preside over a criminal case involving Nathan. It is alleged that as trial progressed, the defence filed numerous applications which were thrown out by Makomo for lack of merit.

The controversial businessman was also involved in the US$6 million bribery scandal that was allegedly demanded from Ghanaian investor William Ato Essien in 2013. Essien had invested at Gye Nyame Resources diamond mine where Mnaba was chairperson then.

Relentless efforts to get a comment from Mnaba hit a snag as he was believed to be in South Africa, while the person who picked the phone at a number provided to us hung up the phone.
