MSU issues statement on closure rumours. Responding to the reports, MSU Information and Public Relations Officer Mirirai Mawere on Sunday said students and staffers were safe and the institution was operating normally.

Midlands State University (MSU) has dismissed reports circulating on social media that the institution had closed after one of its members tested positive for Covid-19 last week.

“We had one of our staff members under the medical services department who showed signs of Covid-19 and all health procedures were quickly carried out under the guidelines set leaving the member in quarantine,” said Mawere.

“We closed the hospital for disinfection and went on to carry contact tracing with a view to find out if all the people who happened to have been close to the person were tested.

“No other case was reported and everything is back to normal and the person who showed the signs has recovered and is expected back at work tomorrow (today).“Reports circulating on social media have been exaggerated and without facts.

“We would like to inform our students, stakeholders and staff members expected at the campus to feel free to visit the institution without fear,” said Mawere.
