Kelly Khumalo has been celebrating the positive reception her album has been getting amid the Senzo Meyiwa murder case drama. Especially since her single Empini went gold and her nomination at the Crown Gospel Awards 2020.
Kelly Khumalo and Hlengiwe Mhlaba’s song Esiphambwaneni has been nominated under the category of Best Gospel Song at this year’s awards. The good news however was overshadowed by the recent developments on the slain soccer player, Senzo Meyiwa.
Kelly recently faced yet another wave of criticism after police confirmed that they have nabbed 5 suspects who are involved in the murder of Senzo. Kelly was implicated in the documents released by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) which contained confidential information about the case.
In the documents accused number five communicated telephonically with Kelly Khumalo, and there was a lender who advanced money to Kelly Khumalo, ostensibly to pay hitmen, and that this lender was pestering her for the repayment of this loan.
The former Orlando Pirates goalie was killed in 2014, at Kelly Khumalo’s home in Vosloorus, while at a party. All the negativity on social media proved too much for Kelly as she has fought off trolls countless times. Instead the vocalist chose to promote her music as she seems unbothered by the hate.
