Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has confirmed that apart from the 9 players that tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, 5 technical team officials also tested positive for COVID-19. ZIFA communicated the development in a tweet that stated that:

We confirm that 5 technical officials of the Chan team have also tested positive to covid-19 including some of the coaches bringing the number of those affected to 14. It’s indeed a painful scenario and a huge setback. We pray that all the 14 will prevail and recover soon.

ZIFA also said the training was suspended as the body is consulting stakeholders and the team will remain in camp until further notice. The CHAN tournament is scheduled to start on 16 January 2021 in Cameron and Zimbabwe will play Cameroon in the opening match.
