Chinhoyi $2.5 million money heist victims turned suspects tell their side of the story. The matter came to light as the 3, Nomatter Jonga, Matthew Simango, and Fanuel Musakwa stood before the court facing theft charges.
The 3 people who were robbed of $2.5 Million by robbers along the Harare-Chinhoyi Highway have reportedly given different accounts of what occurred on a fateful day, ZBC News reports. This has given credence to the suspicion that the heist was an insider job.
According to the publication:
Circumstances are that on the 6th of this month around half past 11 in the morning, the trio who are employed as security cash in transit crew members were given a task to transport seven boxes containing 2 million seven hundred and seventy-five thousand United States dollars in cash.
According to state papers, the money was supposed to be distributed to several ZB Branches including Chinhoyi, Kadoma, Kwekwe, Gweru, Bulawayo, Gwanda and Zvishavane.
The trio reportedly collecting 43 thousand Zimbabwe dollars at Inkomo tollgate which was supposed to be deposited at their bank, before they were robbed by the passengers they had ferried from Westgate and Inkomo Barracks turnoff.
