Sad scenes as explosives blow Shurugwi miner’s wife to pieces. Blessed Ndlovu (35) of Magakooshla in Shurugwi recently appeared before Shurugwi Magistrate Sithabile Zungula facing a count of culpable homicide and a second one of possessing explosives without a license.

A Shurugwi miner has been dragged to court after explosives he left at home while going to work blew up the house and killed his wife.

He was remanded in custody to 12 February 2021. The State alleged that on 5 January 2021, Ndlovu negligently caused the death of Alice Makasi (21) after the explosives he had left in his house exploded at around 9 pm killing his wife.

The couple’s newborn baby survived the incident. According to eyewitness accounts, there was a huge smoke followed by screaming inside the house and then there was a huge explosion.

Half of the house was destroyed by the explosion but neighbours managed to rescue the baby. Ndlovu was found in possession of superpower code, 90 emulates and 10 capped fuses in his room.
