Harare man dupes grieving Tapiwa Makore’s family, says he can retrieve the boy’s missing parts from Malawi. A Harare man was arrested after he reportedly defrauded the family of slain Murehwa boy Tapiwa Makore by telling them he can help them recover Tapiwa’s missing head and limps from Malawi, Newsday reports.
The Makore family reportedly gave Taurai Mukumba $4 500 and US$125 as he promised them he would provide transportation to Malawi to collect their little boy’s missing limbs.
Here are the facts that have been presented by the publication about the issue so far:
- Tapiwa Makore’s father Munyaradzi Makore had reportedly consulted traditional healers that had told him that his son’s missing head and limbs are in Malawi
- Mukumba then told Munyaradzi on 7 February that he could hire a vehicle to go and ferry the missing parts in Malawi
- Makore gave Mukumba $4 500 and USD $125 to hire the car
- Mukumba then became evasive after receiving the money till the Makore family reported him to the Police.
The Makore family yesterday rejected the DNA results that were presented to them and said the skull does not belong to their son. Tapiwa Makore will be buried on 27 March 2021 and a local traditional leader Chief Mangwende will preside over the burial.
