Late Anne Vimbai Nhira’s father Charles Nhira speaks out

Late Anne Vimbai Nhira’s father Charles Nhira speaks out. Charles Nhira said he felt robbed after losing his daughter. He has seven children; five boys and two girls. Father to actress and model Anne Nhira has described his daughter as having been obedient and said they had a good relationship.

“She was a good child. We would always agree on everything and that’s why she continued with her education up to Form Six. “She was disciplined and obedient, everything I would say she would understand me. “Taitowirirana tichironga tunhu twedu tiri pamwechete.

“I was impressed with her progress and she ended up being an actress. She was growing well, making people happy and we were all happy. “But today I am at a loss for words. Ndarasikirwa nemwana wangu aiterera. I am in pain,” he said.

Former Studio 263 actress and close friend to Anne, Tatenda Mavetera said the Government’s intervention was an honour to the arts. “This is an honour, to be appreciated as arts, acting is something that is looked down upon.

“I thank the President for respecting artistes in Zimbabwe. If this has been done for Anne, it shows that we have been put at a higher level, and it can be done for others.

“This means we are seen, Ministry of Youth, we appreciate you for pushing this.” Added Mavetera: “It means we have been respected. The gap she has left can’t be filled. “She was a principled person, she respected the culture of our country and we look forward to having such actors who stand by their cultural values.

“The assistance has lightened the burden. “She was a result-oriented person, we want to thank the President for honouring us. We are happy that this is a great step in emancipating the film and arts industry,” she added.

Speaking at the same occasion, National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) Director, Nicholas Moyo said: “As NACZ, we want our industry to look forward, this action by the Government is a statement to us to look at a bigger picture.

“It’s no longer about thinking small, it’s testimony that the Government is set to take the arts sector to the next level. “If it’s a sector that didn’t matter, I don’t think our requests could have been heard.

“Funeral requests are sent and some are not approved, but for our case, it’s different. We want to acknowledge what the Government and the ministry have done to honour us.”
