Report: 7 deaths recorded in UK caused by AstraZeneca Vaccine. The announcement of the deaths by the UK medical regulator comes at a time when other European countries have stopped the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine over its potential link to blood clots.

7 people out of 30 have died after developing blood clots from the AstraZeneca vaccine jab, the UK medical regulator has said.

In a statement, the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency said that “Out of the 30 reports up to and including 24 March, sadly 7 have died.”

Last Friday, the Netherlands stopped AstraZeneca vaccinations for people under the age of 60 after five new cases of blood clots among women, one of whom died. Germany took a similar decision earlier last week. The World Health Organisation which previously declared the AstraZeneca vaccine safe for use, is expected to announce updated advice on the issue on April 7.

Of the 30 cases reported in the UK, 22 were cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, a rare condition when a blood clot forms in the brain. Eight other cases saw people suffer thrombosis and low levels of blood platelets, which help blood clot.

Last month, AstraZeneca said its vaccine is 79 percent effective at preventing Covid-19 and does not increase the risk of blood clots.
