Soccer legend George Shaya burial set for tomorrow. The late football legend, George ‘Mastermind’ Shaya is expected to be laid to rest in Harare on Thursday, a family spokesperson has said.
Shaya died Monday night at the age off 77. The family said the Dynamos legend’s health deteriorated the time his leg was amputated.
Family spokesperson Godknows Hofisi told H-Metro Sport yesterday that burial has provisionally been set for tomorrow.
“The late George Shaya was my brother-in-law. He died Monday midnight, I was informed early Tuesday morning of his death. “From the time his leg was amputated, he never fully recovered and I think it’s consequence that,” he said.
Hofisi said while they expect to lay him to rest tomorrow, there can be changes since many stakeholders will be involved.
“We are going to have a meeting and come up with arrangements but in the interim we are working Thursday as the date to lay him to rest, that date might change since you know there are many stakeholders involved.
“It’s a funeral of interest to the whole country. George Shaya was not ordinary, he was a legend and we want the country to be always informed,” said Hofisi.
