Grave rituals land man in court. Norman Munetsi reportedly consulted witch doctors as his relatives were dying rapidly. The witch doctor is said to have accused Munetsi of possessing witchcraft tools which included a winnower, snake, and an owl.

A Rushinga man is reported to have done secret rituals on his deceased family members’ graves. Munetsi, appearing before Headman Chimhanda’s Community Court, said the winnower belonged to his brother and the snake belonged to his late father.

“Yes I know the goblins; the winnower belongs to my younger brother and the reptile was left by our father. “I was doing the rituals among the dead as a way of easing their avenging spirits,” he told the court.

Headman Chimhanda said “Why did you come to my chiefdom to execute secret rituals on graves, a taboo I forbid in my area and worse still you belong to another Chief”.

Munetsi, who resides at Marymount area Ward 4, relocated sometime ago from Chimhanda area. Munetsi told the Headman’s court. Eventually, Headman Chimhanda ordered Munetsi to pay a beast as a fine.
