Singers Nutty O and Exq back in court. The duo, accused of possessing fake Covid-19 certificates, appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi. Popular dancehall artiste Carrington Simbarashe “Nutty O” Chiwadza and urban groover Enock “ExQ” Munhenga were back in court yesterday.
The State led by prosecutor Anesu Chirenje made the application for postponement on the basis that they were still awaiting correspondence from the South African ministry of Health.
“The State has made progress in investigations and has managed to record statements from Ministry of Health and Child Care personnel as well as staff from the Robert Mugabe International Airport and we are now awaiting correspondence from the ministry of Health South Africa so we seek a one-month postponement,” he said. `
The duo did not oppose the application but placed the State on notice that if they don’t provide a trial date on the next remand date November 17, they will apply for refusal of further remand. The two were arrested at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on arrival on June 8 this year after tendering fake COVID-19 certificates to immigration authorities.
It is alleged the documents were acquired by the duo in South Africa and were used to board the flight back home. The fake documents were detected at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport after the duo successfully used them at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
