Winky D, Magamba Network settles out of court. The singer had slapped the political satire and comedy show with the lawsuit after they reproduced his song-Parliament in one of their weekly shows.

Magamba Network who were recently sued by dancehall star Winky D for US$12 000 claim they have reached a settlement. In a statement, Magamba Network said neither the song nor the artist is linked to any of their productions.

“This serves to notify our stakeholders, followers and the general public of the settlement of the case involving copyright infringement between Magamba Network and Winky D.

“Kindly note that the use of Winky D’s musical work known as ‘Parliament’ by Magamba Network in our weekly show concept entitled ‘In Case You Missed It’ using the campaign titled ‘#Reconveneparly’ sometime in May 2020 was made in error and the parties have amicably resolved this matter.

“Winky D’s musical work known as ‘Parliament’ is not linked to the Magamba Network and its activities,” reads the statement. Winky D’s camp had argued that after the show he had suffered loss in income and was perceived as aligned to a certain political party. He said his original work had been affected after the song was reproduced.

According to Winky D’s camp all communication is expected through their lawyers. “I can’t confirm or deny the action since all our business was being handled by our lawyers.

“If they have produced a statement, its legality lies with them and we will hear from our lawyers,” said Winky D’s manager Jonathan Banda.
