What you probably didn’t know about Jub Jub

In the wake of Amanda Du Pont’s shocking revelation that has literally shaken Mzansi, Jub Jub has found himself trending for all the wrong reasons.

Ever since his controversial interview with Mac G on Podcast and Chill aired, Jub Jub’s skeletons started tumbling from his closet.

It looks like his past has come to haunt him.

In light of everything that is happening, here is a rundown of things you probably didn’t know about him.

Jub Jub, real name Molemo Katleho Maarohanye was born on the 29th of June 1980. He was bred in Soweto, Orlando East in a family of 5.

He is a jack of all trades, besides being a TV host, he is also a hip-hop artist.

Jub Jub is well known for his remake of ‘Ndikhokhele bawo’ and for hosting popular shows such as ‘Uyajola 9/9’, ‘You Promised to Marry Me’ and ‘Uthando Noxolo’.

Jub Jub is a child star. He was discovered in 1991 when he partook in a popular Coca-Cola Tv advertisement that featured soccer legend Doctor Khumalo. Ever since then, he hosted a number of shows like Jam Alley, Yo Tv, etc.

Jub Jub once had a stroke with the law. In March 2010, Jub Jub and his friend Themba Tshabalala were arrested.

This was after the two got involved in a drag racing accident while under the influence of hard drugs. Four school children lost their lives while two suffered severe head injuries that damaged their brains.

In December 2012, Jub Jub and Themba Tshabalala received a 25-year jail sentence each, for attempted murder and three related offences.

In October, the same year, Jub Jub and Themba Tshabalala’s murder ruling was weighed down in a high court in Johannesburg, to culpable homicide after they appealed against the court ruling. This saw their sentence reduced to 10 years from 2012.

After serving slightly over 4 years of their jail sentence Jub Jub and his friend were released in 2017 on parole.

Meanwhile, Jub Jub’s mother, Jacqueline Maarohanye – Mama Jackie is currently serving time in prison. This comes after she was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment, of which five years were suspended, for selling two orphans to a childless couple for R30,000, as well as illegally running an orphanage.

She is alleged to have coached and pressured children to tell sob stories about how they witnessed their parents being killed, so she could get money from donors.

Jub Jub’s mother was popular for her “noble” initiative to provide a home for orphans who had nowhere else to go before she was arrested.

She was hailed as the “Angel of Soweto”. Through her orphanage, she raised a lot of money in the form of donations from influential people, including Oprah Winfrey and Nelson Mandela.

Jub Jub is a married man. He confirmed his marriage to a mysterious woman on Metro FM’s ‘The Drive’.

“She was there before, she stood out through my prison term, through the trials and tribulations, she never judged me, she never cursed me, she never looked at me in a different kind of way,” he said.

Not much is known about his wife. When asked why he doesn’t flaunt his wife, Jub Jub revealed that his wife is a private person.

She’s not there for the fame, she’s not there for the money she’s not there for anything, that’s why y’all haven’t seen her.”
