70-year-old man r@pes 10-year-old niece. She had been left in his custody. David Mtetwa (70) was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda, who remanded him to January 25.
70-year-old Chinamhora man was back in court yesterday for routine remand in a case in which he is being accused of raping his niece, aged 10.
Mtetwa initially appeared in court last month and was later granted bail by the High Court. Allegations are that Mtetwa was left in custody of his niece and went into the room where she was sleeping and raped her.
When her mother returned from work, she noticed the girl was bleeding but she refused to disclose what had happened. The complainant later informed her teacher and a police report was made. Lynett Gwarisa appeared on behalf of the State.
