Bodyslam speaks on the famous wedding: Leave Ginimbi out of the debate

Bodyslam speaks on the famous wedding: Leave Ginimbi out of the debate. Ginimbi’s shadow hung over the event, even from his grave. His old gang was there, his former close friend was the hostess and the person who used to manage his affairs, Shally, was calling the shots.

Events management guru, Simbarashe “Bodyslam” Chakare, says it’s unfair to drag the late Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure into the debate triggered by fashionista Daniella Allen’s glitzy US$500 000 lobola ceremony.

Of course, the Rich Cousins were not there, for one or two reasons, related to the politics of the terrain where the country’s biggest fish, in the social circles of the wealthy rollers, swim. There is agreement on social media that the Nigerian invasion didn’t only push the Rich Cousins, and their counterparts, into the shadows but provided a reminder that there is still a lot of ground to be covered, for the elite members of the local socialites, to catch up with the best in the game.

For some, the image of the big boys and girls in social media circles, being pushed into the shade, where they could even be dressed by their hosts, showed the gap between the locals and the stars of the game in such countries like Nigeria.

But, would things have been different, for instance, if the local King of Bling, Ginimbi, was still alive? The bride, Daniella, has been the talk of town after she paraded her new Nigerian husband Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo, who came along with music superstar, Davido, to grace the occasion. Davido’s entourage, Bodyslam said it was high time people focused on the positives than the negatives.

He also said it was unfortunate to drag the late business mogul into the issue since Ginimbi played his part and left his mark. “I followed the event on social media and it was a classic event with the guests looking stunning in their marooro African attire.

“I think dragging Ginimbi into all this is a bit unfair since Ginimbi played his part in life, he lived it to the fullest. “We can’t keep talking or involving him pese pese, let him rest in peace,” he said. The music promoter said it was high time people unite, rather than make comparisons.

“We are not united at all because instead of supporting our sister, we are busy comparing vakuwasha ne mbinga dzedu.

“These (Nigerian) guys here have big money, real money, so comparing with our big shots is unfair in that we are still miles behind,” he said. Bodyslam has over the years hosted some of the top celebrities, who attended Daniella’s historic event, at Madirirano editions.

These include Pokello, Jackie Ngarande, Chief J and Mike Chimombe, who have always supported him at his events. Bodyslam believes people need to support each other rather than drawing unnecessary comparisons.
