Fired State Security Minister Owen Ncube’s nephew, Energy, disqualified from contesting ZANU PF primaries

Fired State Security Minister Owen Ncube’s nephew, Energy, disqualified from contesting ZANU PF primaries. The ZANU PF Midlands Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) has disqualified Energy “Dhala” Ncube, a nephew of sacked State Security Minister Owen “Mudha” Ncube from contesting in the party primary election for Kwekwe Central.

ZANU PF will hold primary elections tomorrow to choose candidates who will represent the party in the by-elections set for 26 March.

The ZANU PF PCC held a meeting on Wednesday and disqualified Ncube and the party’s losing 2018 parliamentary candidate Kandros Mugabe allegedly for fanning violence. A source told NewZimbabwe.com:

The provincial executive held a meeting today (Wednesday) and resolved to disqualify Cde Kandros Mugabe and Cde Dhala (Energy Ncube) from the race. The party resolved to disqualify them following episodes of violence in the run-up to the primary polls and also dividing the party.

Ncube confirmed the disqualification, saying “everything happens for a reason”. Said Ncube: I come to you with a very heavy heart. Asi chandoda mese muzive ndechekuti (what I want you to know is that) everything happens for a reason.

It’s sad that I have been disqualified and so has Kandros Mugabe. Reasons for the disqualification will be disclosed, but let’s not lose focus. The ZANU PF PCC resolved to field former Kwekwe deputy mayor, John Mapurazi, as its Kwekwe Central candidate in the by-elections.

The MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa will field Judy Tobaiwa, while Mbekezeli Ndlovu will represent the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC-T. The Kwekwe Central National Assembly seat fell vacant following the death of Masango “Blackman” Matambanadzo (Independent) in 2020.
