Zimbabwe records first hockey AFCON win. Zimbabwe’s Under 21 Ladies Hockey team defeated Uganda 5-0 win to register its first win at the ongoing Hockey Africa Cup of Nations tournament hosted by Ghana.

The scorers were 16-year-old Tinodiwanashe Elijah (28th minute), Natalie Terblanche (30th, 52nd minute), Nicolle Grant (47th minute), Lilian Pope (60th minute).

The tournament runs from the 17th to the 23rd of January 2022. Zimbabwe got their campaign off to a difficult start with a 3-0 defeat against the pre-tournament favourites South Africa on Monday.

Uganda were also desperate to get back to winning ways after succumbing to a 3-0 loss to Namibia in their first match on Monday but in the end, it was the Zimbabwean ladies who proved too strong in this contest.
