Black Coffee interview hits big screen

Fans of MacG’s Podcast and Chill will have to wait until Thursday, 23 February to watch the much-anticipated interview with Grammy-award-winning artist DJ Black Coffee. The Podcast and Chill crew announced on social media that South Africans will have to head to Ster-Kinekor to watch their interview with DJ Black Coffee.

The announcement drew a mixed reaction on social media with some fans revealing they would rather watch the interview in their living rooms.

A chiller @mrkay_7 tweeted: “@podcastwithmacg @Solphendukaa @MacGUnleashed Honestly guys you should have thought about what makes podcasts big. It’s the comfort of being anywhere chilling and watching you guys. This cinema thing it’s not ayoba, next time think Netflix or Showmax.

“In this exclusive interview, he opens up about his life, challenges, and triumphs, giving viewers an intimate, personal view of his life,” reads the Sterkinekor website.

EWN reports that while the interview has not been classified yet, the movie house expects a classification of above 18 and that tickets are said to be selling fast, with the Mall of Africa screening reportedly sold out.

It is reported the Black Coffee episode will only be streamed on Podcast and Chill Network’s YouTube channel next week.

@DR_MASIYAH:

“Those of you complaining lack vision, because this move is going to change the podcast game forever… lots of opportunities are going to be born from this boss move.”

@sbu_gs:

“Now people must leave their internet in the house and go to a cinema. Are we going forward or are we going backward?”

@thabo_shingange:

“Imagine purchasing a cinema ticket to go and listening to a man gossip about his failed marriage. We’re truly a special nation.”

@Asante_Ayanda: Also cinemas have been closing left right and center, it’s going to help out that industry as well.
