PICS: Cassper Nyovest and Toss under fire

Amapiano star Toss’ recent sexxy photo as the Billiato brand ambassador left ladies drooling, but also left some people unhappy.

The 23-year-old Umlando singer was recently announced as the brand ambassador. The photo they used to announce his new role was an exact replica of a photo that late American rapper Tupac took years ago.

The photo has been a topic on social media since Friday, 3 February, when the announcement was made at a press conference held in Rosebank, Joburg.

People have since been accusing rapper Cassper Nyovest, who’s the owner of Billiato, Toss, and the team behind the brand of plagiarism.

They have been asking that the photographer of the original photo of Tupac must be credited otherwise it constitutes stealing.

Twitter user The Waveman was one of the people who called for the original photographer to be credited.

“Hmm if you’re going to recreate something, at least credit the original photographer,” he wrote.

Natho said they plagiarised and it’s in bad taste.

“Recreating a credited body of work without acknowledging the author is plagiarism. And it’s in bad taste if you do it for commercial gain. If he really has a serious team, someone should have pointed it out to him. Basic copyright laws,” he wrote.

Lesbiana Grande commented: ‘This man and the tendency to recreate (read: bite) original material and execute it so weakly.”

SitholeRaymond asked why they used Tupac’s photo.

“Why copy Tupac’s iconic picture?” he asked.

The PR company representing Cassper Nyovest and the brand Azania Public declined to comment.

Speaking to the publication at the press conference, Toss told said he was excited to be the ambassador.

“It feels amazing. I’m excited. I’m looking forward to working with Cassper and the brand. The plan is to row with the brand, take it further and maybe hopefully take it international. I’ll represent it as well as I can,” he said.
