Nelisiwe Sibiya rubbishes event poster with her name and photo

Durban Gen actress Nelisiwe Sibiya is not happy. This was after the organizers of Miss Culture uMhlathuze Municipality used her name and picture to promote their event.

She took to Facebook on Wednesday, 1 March telling her fans that she is not part of the event, which will take place at Empangeni Civic Centre on Saturday, 4 March.

She even posted the poster with her name and picture, putting an X across it.

Nelisiwe, who plays Dr. Mbali Mthethwa on Durban Gen, told the publication she was booked to host the event but this wasn’t finalized as they didn’t agree on booking fees.

“We did not agree on the money they would pay me. They offered me less money that I couldn’t accept.” she said.

“I want to warn people not to go to the event because they think they’ll see me. I am not part of it.”

Nelisiwe said that she is still thinking about what she’ll do next.

Miss uMhlathuze Municipality organizer, Ntombe Hlongwa, said that they booked Nelisiwe as MC and started discussions on 6 January.

“We discussed event figures and agreed on what I was going to pay her,” said Ntombe.

“But on 29 January, she came back asking for something we could not afford and we agreed that she will not be part of the event because we won’t be able to pay her what she wants.”

Ntombe said, unfortunately, they had already released promotional posters with her name and picture as host.

“We started to release another poster without her, but with Thandeka Zulu of Afrosoul as host. I was surprised when she posted about the event on Facebook, and I’m confused about her intention.

“I never had a fight with her. It was just that we didn’t agree on what she requested to be paid. The event will continue as planned,” said Ntombe.
