Super Mega Baseball 4 Will Have Paid DLCs

Developer Metalhead Software has provided an update on Super Mega Baseball 4, confirming that the upcoming game won’t have microtransactions but will have DLC.

In a recent Reddit post, Metalhead discussed the game’s development progress, saying that the team has been “heads down building a bigger and better baseball experience in the next SMB,” and that a reveal of Super Mega Baseball 4 is planned for May 2. It added that it’s also been developing new game content and features that players have been requesting and that it’s wanted to pursue for years.

“Developing Super Mega Baseball as a part of EA Sports has been an amazing process where we’ve received more support and resourcing for our creative vision than we’ve ever had,” the post reads. “This game is every bit a Metalhead game as any of our first three releases; made by the same team (plus some new faces) and we think that’ll be obvious when you see it.”

Metalhead continued, saying that there’s a lot in the game it can’t wait to share and addressed the concerns about microtransactions, saying, “Let us address that one really quick here–we are not planning in-game monetization in the new SMB. However, there will be some extra content available as DLC at and after launch, similar to what we did with SMB2.”

Super Mega Baseball 4 doesn’t currently have a new launch date. The game is set to release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
