Singer DaniLeigh arrested for driving under the influence

Singer DaniLeigh has been arrested for a hit-and-run incident in Miami while allegedly driving under the influence.

Police arrested the singer, born Danielle Leigh Curiel, after they were dispatched to the scene just before 1 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report obtained by USA TODAY. She was charged with leaving the scene of the crash including serious bodily injury, driving under the influence, and damage to property or person while driving under the influence.

Police said in the report that they received calls about DaniLeigh driving a grey Mercedes Benz, reportedly at a high speed while weaving through traffic. She hit a motorist on a moped and continued driving, according to witness reports shared with police.

USA TODAY has reached out to the singer’s manager for comment. Multiple people attempted to get DaniLeigh’s attention to let her know she was “dragging the moped,” but she didn’t stop, according to the report.

The unnamed moped driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries, including a spinal fracture and a kidney laceration, and was transported to a Miami hospital.

Police sayDaniLeigh charged with two counts of assault after an argument with DaBaby

Police tried to pull over the 28-year-old singer, but she refused to stop at first, the report said. After the officer honked multiple times, she pulled over; police observed sluggish responses from DaniLeigh and reported they could smell alcohol, also noting that the passenger in the car seemed intoxicated.

Both DaniLeigh and her passenger were detained by police, who noted in the arrest report that the car was damaged, pointing to a possible crash. DaniLeigh told officers that she had been driving from a Memorial Day party and did not hit a motorist, also denying consuming any alcohol.

She agreed to take field sobriety tests, which she failed, according to the report. Her blood alcohol concentration level at the police station registered at 0.145 and 0.148 in two tests, almost twice the legal limit of .08 in Florida.

While searching her car, police said they found an empty bottle of 1942 Don Julio tequila.

While DaniLeigh told police she sustained no injuries, she was taken to the hospital to receive medical clearance before she would be moved to a correctional center.

In 2021, police arrested and charged DaniLeigh with assault after an argument between her and rapper DaBaby was heavily publicized on social media.

Police in Charlotte, North Carolina, responded to a domestic assault call in November 2021. DaBaby, whose legal name is Jonathan Kirk, told police he was being assaulted by DaniLeigh, the mother of his then-infant child.

According to authorities, police were called again the next morning after receiving reports of a disturbance from the same home. Authorities conducted an investigation and charged DaniLeigh with two counts of simple assault.

The argument between DaniLeigh and DaBaby was shared through each of their social media accounts in now-deleted Instagram Live videos, which surrounded a disagreement in which DaniLeigh accused the rapper of putting her and their baby out of his house.
