Beyoncé and Jay-Z paid out $200 million in cash for one of the few residences that Domus Guest Edito Tadao Ando designed in the United States. The house is definitely the most valued in California (although the two have managed to lower the price by 95 million), and is the second most expensive in the history of all the United States.
With an area of about 40,000 square feet, surrounded by 8 acres of land, the villa was commissioned to the Japanese architect in 1999 by the television producer William Bell and his wife Maria – great collectors of works by Jeff Koons – and then built fifteen years later. Beyoncé and Jay-Z have also invested a lot in works of art, also buying many works of Warhol and Basquiat, which in this residence can be best exposed.
Made entirely of reinforced concrete, of which Ando is a master and a poet, it is characterized by simple and minimalist lines, and large windows that let in natural light. The outdoor space is dotted with blue pools and there is an access to a private beach.
