Jub Jub hands himself over to the police over alleged rape, attempted murder & assault

Popular South African TV presenter and rapper, Jub Jub has been arrested and is due in Johannesburg magistrate’s court for rape, attempted murder, and assault charges.

Jub-Jub, born Molemo Maarohanye, handed himself over to the police in Brixton on Thursday after a warrant of arrest was issued against him.

Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo confirmed that the case is scheduled for Thursday in the magistrate’s court.

“Police can confirm that a well-known rapper handed himself over to the police in Brixton on Thursday, 27 July 2023, after a warrant of arrest was issued against him,” he said.

“He is expected to appear before the Johannesburg magistrate’s court today facing charges of rape, attempted murder and assault,”

It is not clear how and when the rapper, known for his popular Moja Love show Uyajola 99, committed the offences.

Police sources close to the investigation revealed that Jub Jub’s arrest emanates from a case opened by a well-known celebrity and TV star, who is known to the publication.

“The matter has been under investigation and after the docket was taken to the NPA for a decision, a decision was taken that the suspect needed to be arrested,” said a police officer who refused to be identified because he is not authorized to speak to the media.

“After getting a tip-off that he was wanted by the police, he decided to hand himself in.

“After police were satisfied that there was a strong case against the suspect, the NPA took a decision to prosecute.”
