Former South African president Jacob Zuma in Russia for treatment

Former President Jacob Zuma is receiving medical treatment in Moscow, Russia. According to News24, Zuma is reportedly unwell and has left SA since Monday.

Jacob Zuma Foundation spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi confirmed that the former president is in Moscow for a checkup.

“He went for medical checkups. He has not been feeling well,” Manyi said. He is expected to return to South Africa next week.

Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court on Thursday dismissed the Department of Correctional Services’ application for leave to appeal a Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) ruling that he must go back to prison.

Zuma was jailed in July 2021 for 15 months for contempt of the Constitutional Court after he refused to obey an order to appear before the Zondo Commission.
