Jamie Foxx speaks out for first time since mysterious health scare

Jamie Foxx said he went to “hell and back” as he spoke out for the first time since being hospitalized following a mysterious “medical complication” in April.

The Oscar winner, 55, fought back tears as he divulged the “hellish” experience he went through in an emotional video on Instagram Friday night.

“I went through something I thought I would never, ever go through,” Foxx said, informing his 16 million followers he’s not “blind” or “paralyzed.”

“I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear an update but to be honest with you, I didn’t want you to see me like that, man,” he admitted with tears in his eyes.

“I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie or a television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

The actor didn’t disclose his illness, but is finally “on the road to recovery.” Foxx praised his sister Deondra Dixon and daughter Corinne Foxx, 29, for saving his life.

Foxx said his eyes are “working just fine,” proving that he’s “not paralyzed.”

“I just want to say I love everybody, and I love all the love that I got,” he added.

While those close to Foxx have been tight-lipped on what exactly caused him to be hospitalized, his daughter Corinne revealed in April that her famous dad fell ill in the middle of production on his upcoming movie “Back in Action.”

He did, however, publicly speak out via Instagram in May to thank his fans for “all the love,” adding that he felt “blessed.”

Foxx was seen getting choked up in Friday’s video, warning fans that they are likely to see him “burst into tears” with gratitude in public.

“Man, I know they talk about people crying on videos … but I’m not going to do a take two. it is what is is,” he shared. “If you see me out from now on and every once in a while I just burst into tears, it’s just because it’s been tough, man. I was sick, man. But now I got my legs under me, so you’re gonna see me out.

“Like I said, I want you to remember me for the jokes that I crack and movies that I make — some of them good, some of them ain’t, and songs that I sing.

“I am here on Earth because of some great people … and God,” he said. “I’m on my way back.”

Drake may still be playing the field, but it’s not his plan forever. The “Search & Rescue” rapper, 36, appeared on The Really Good Podcast with Bobbi Althoff on Thursday where he discussed his new poetry book, as well as marriage, dating and why he hasn’t tied the knot himself.

When asked why Drake hasn’t been married, he said: “I don’t know. It seems like a thing of, like, ancient times or something. I think I will eventually. … I don’t know, I don’t think I can offer somebody what they’d be looking for. Just consistency. I think my life, my work is my priority.” Read More
