Meghan and Harry’s elderly neighbor snubbed by security after he tried to welcome couple

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry “weren’t interested” in being welcomed by their American neighbors, according to reports.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to Montecito, California, after stepping down from the Royal Family in 2020. Despite being new to the area, it seems the couple wasn’t fussed about learning the ins and outs of their exclusive neighborhood.

US Navy veteran Frank McGinity has claimed he wanted to welcome Meghan and Harry by lending them some films he created about the history of Montecito. However, Frank said he was turned away at the gate by security.

The 88-year-old spoke about the brief encounter in his memoir Get Off Your Street. He also expressed surprise at hearing the Sussexes had moved to the area, as it usually attracts older buyers.

“I have a big house next to Harry and Meghan’s property and I live in the guest house while renting the main house out on Airbnb.

“Harry and Meghan live on old McCormick property and I went up to their gate with the films on a CD, but they weren’t interested,” he explained.

Frank said he was turned away by the security at the couple’s gate, adding how they wouldn’t take his films because they said Meghan and Harry were “not interested”.

“I was trying to be neighborly. If they were interested in the neighborhood I’ve got a lot of information,” Frank wrote.

Speaking to the Montecito Journal about Meghan and Harry, the veteran said: “We don’t see them very much around here. Surprisingly, they came here. People are typically older. It’s where the elephants come to die.”

Meghan has previously gushed about her home in Montecito during an interview with The Cut, saying it makes her “feel free” and is “calm and healing” to live in.

The property boasts nine bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, as well as a tennis court, tea house, and two-bedroom guest house.

There’s also a chicken coop, a pool, a pool house, and two palm trees joined together at the bottom of the garden.

A sitting room includes cozy chairs and rosewater candles from Soho House.

It also houses a grand piano gifted to the couple by actor and director Tyler Perry, who had also allowed them to stay in his Beverly Hills mansion during the Covid lockdown in 2020.
