Meghan Markle could return to acting

Meghan Markle could return to acting in an effort to make more content for Netflix before their deal runs out in 2025. Earlier this week we reported how the Duchess of Sussex and her team are trying to get the “green light” on projects before the end of their $ 100 million deal with the streaming giant.

Last month Netflix confirmed that their relationship with Meghan and Prince Harry wasn’t coming to an end just yet.

“The bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value. Harry & Meghan launched as Netflix’s most spectacular documentary debut to date,” a Netflix spokesperson said.

“Our exciting journey with them isn’t ending anytime soon. We’re currently collaborating on numerous projects, including the much-anticipated documentary series Heart of Invictus.”

The Heart of Invictus series is set for an August premiere date. And while no other new projects have been announced, speculation that Meghan could return to acting has begun.

And one report from Australia even claims that Meghan could land the leading role in a sequel to 1992 classic movie The Bodyguard. Kevin Costner is reportedly pitching the sequel and a source claims Meghan is interested in the project.

“The only thing Kevin loves more than an underdog like Meghan is a box office hit,” a source tells New Idea magazine.

During the couple’s first joint interview in 2017, Meghan explained her decision to give up her acting career after getting engaged to Prince Harry.

“What’s been really exciting, as we talk about this as the transition out of my career… is that the causes that have been very important to me, I can focus even more energy on,” she said. “You realize that as you have access, or a voice that people are willing to listen to, [it comes with] a lot of responsibility, which I take seriously.”

When pressed about the decision to give up her career ahead of her marriage, she said: “I don’t see it as giving anything up. I just see it as a change. It’s a new chapter. And keep in mind I’ve been working on my show for seven years. We were very fortunate to have that sort of longevity on a series. For me, once we hit the 100 episode marker, I thought, I have ticked this box and I feel really proud of the work we’ve done there and now it’s time to work as a team with [Harry].”

The Mirror has contacted Meghan’s representatives for comment.
