Minnie Dlamini opens up on divorce & difficulties of being a single parent

Popular Mzansi media personality, Minnie Dlamini was recently interviewed by seasoned disc jockey, DJ Fresh on his new podcast Waw! What A Week where she talked about finding herself after her public divorce and also shed some light on how single-parenting has been going for her.

After her split from soccer player Itumeleng Khune, Minnie Dlamini fell deeply in love with the former footballer and producer Quinton Jones. They celebrated a traditional wedding ceremony in Green Hills, Durban North on 8 July 2017, which was followed by a publicized white wedding that took place on 16 September, Zalebs reported.

Unfortunately, after four years of marriage and one baby boy in the picture, the couple shocked Mzansi when they announced that they were going their separate ways. Dlamini was accused of allegedly having had an affair with a businessman known as Edwin Sodi, however, she squashed the rumours, Kaya FM reported. The gorgeous TV personality has previously shared that her divorce took a toll on her and admitted to be slowly getting back to her old self.

She was recently interviewed on DJ Fresh’s new podcast, Waw! What A Week, and spoke about how her role as Lu on The Honeymoon and said it brought back some old emotions that she felt during her marriage. Dlamini says by the time she started playing Lu, her marriage was already over which is why she could relate to the character.

“A lot of the emotions Lu was going through in the film, I could relate to. Some [of the emotions] did make me feel some kind of way. I kind of feel like Lu was a bit of therapy for me because she went through a really cool journey of finding herself in this film and that’s kind of where I am now,” she said.

Minnie Dlamini also touched base on parenthood since her divorce. Like many single mothers, she said being a single parent is a challenging task and rewarding at the same time.

“It’s even more difficult doing it alone, And I think for me, it’s just shout out to single parents everywhere. I don’t think I’ve ever been more insecure or questioned myself more than I do right now. But I also feel like God gave him to me for a reason. Sometimes I just got to trust my gut and raise him in a way that I was raised because I think my parents did pretty good,” she said.
