Heath Streak’s mother rubbishes reports he’s died

Karen Streak, the mother of former Zimbabwe cricket star Heath Streak, has dismissed the false reports that her son passed away yesterday. She said that Heath is recovering from stage four cancer and is in good spirits.

The rumours of Heath’s death spread like wildfire on social media, with some of his former teammates, including Henry Olonga, expressing their condolences. However, Karen said that these were baseless and hurtful to the family.

“Heath is here with us at the farm, he is not dead. He is walking around and joking with us. He has been battling cancer for a while and he is getting treatment at home and in South Africa. He is a fighter and he is doing great,” said Karen.

She said that she has been answering numerous phone calls from concerned friends and fans who wanted to verify the news. She said that she was shocked and saddened by the malicious rumours.

“I don’t know who started this fake news and why they would do such a thing. It is very disturbing and disrespectful to Heath and his loved ones. I wish people would stop spreading lies and pray for his recovery instead,” she said.

Joseph Rego, a close friend and advisor of Heath, also confirmed that Heath is alive and well. He said that he would have been the first to know and announce if anything had happened to him.

“He is fine, it’s not true that he is no more. He is a legend of Zimbabwe cricket and we are all rooting for him. He has shown tremendous courage and strength in his fight against cancer. He deserves our support and respect, not these false rumours,” Rego said.
